There are several things you can do that may help you deal with your hearing loss. Here are few of them:

• Adjust your mindset. It isn’t always easy, but having a positive mindset allows you to embrace challenges, accept criticism and become more resilient.

• Share your feelings with loved ones. Talking about your struggles with hearing loss can help reduce your feelings of frustration and strengthen your relationships with the people you confide in. Instead of isolating yourself, let the people who care about you know how you feel and what you need from them.

• Position yourself for optimal hearing. When talking to someone, place yourself directly across from them. Facing the person you talk to can help you to pick up on their facial cues and body language.

• Talk to a health-care professional. It’s important to speak with a qualified professional about your hearing concerns. They may be able to recommend an assistive device that’ll help enhance your ability to hear.
  

Things you can’t control

While there are many things within your control, there are others that you need to learn to accept. Here are some things that are beyond your control:

• Your genetics. Hearing loss can run in families. You may be born with a hearing issue or develop one later in life. Unfortunately, you can’t change your genes.

• Social stigma. Sadly, there’s some amount of stigma associated with hearing loss. You can’t control how other people perceive you, but you can try not to let it bother you.
