Pair Phonak Hearing Aids on Android

How to Pair Phonak Hearing Aids to an Android Cellphone – Soundwave Hearing Care

For this video, I’m going to show you how to connect your Phonak hearing aids to an Android cellphone and to the My Phonak app.

For this video, I’m going to show you how to connect your Phonak hearing aids to an Android cellphone and to the My Phonak app.

So, the first thing you need to do is go to your settings, connections and Bluetooth®. Now, to put your hearing aids into pairing mode, if you have a standard battery, you’re going to open and close the battery doors. And, if you have a rechargeable hearing aid, you will put your hearing aids on the charger until you see a flashing light, and then remove the hearing aids from the charger. Now you may have to hit scan again just to detect the devices, as I did there.

Now you will see that the right Phonak hearing aid has popped up. I will click right Phonak hearing aid and we should get a pairing request. You will hit “Pair”. Now, if you scroll up, you can see that the right Phonak hearing aid is connected for calls and audio.

Available devices list, 'R-Phonak hearing aid Pairing...'

What this means is that any sound coming through the phone itself will route through the hearing aid. So, if you get a phone call, a text, or an email alert, you will hear those in the hearing aid.

Now, for the most part, you’ll never see your left Phonak hearing aid connected here unless we make that the primary ear.

So, then what you’re going to do is close out of your settings and go to the downloaded MyPhonak app.

Instructions to connect hearing aids to an app

There are instructions for your non-rechargeable versus rechargeable. Again, you’re going to open and close battery doors or put them in the charger. So, we’re going to hit continue. I’m going to open and close the battery doors on my standard battery hearing aids that I have here and we’re going to hold them fairly close to the phone. This can take a minute, so just be patient.

So, there we can see both hearing aids. We will hit select. There’s the first pairing request. The left is now connected and, with the second pairing request for the right, the pairing is complete.

Pairing complete. Ready to use myPhonak app.

So, I’m just going to click through all of this just to get you to the app. Most of you would have had a tutorial on how to use the app. If you do have any questions or concerns, you can always reach out to us and book an appointment and one of our clinicians will be happy to help you.

App screen: Active Program Automatic, Left and Right Connected

As you can see here, both the right and left hearing aids are now connected. Now, just to make sure the whole process has been completed, I recommend going back to settings connections, and Bluetooth. What you want to see is the right Phonak hearing aid connected for calls and audio. You should also see the “LE_Right” Phonak hearing aid and the “LE_Left” Phonak hearing aid.

The “LE” refers to the app connection. So, when you see three connections like that, you know everything is connected and everything should be running and working smoothly.

For this video, I’m going to show you how to connect your Phonak hearing aids to an Android cellphone and to the My Phonak app.

So, the first thing you need to do is go to your Settings → Connections → Bluetooth.

For standardโ€‘battery models, open and close the battery doors. For rechargeable models, place the hearing aids on the charger until the light flashes, then remove them to initiate pairing mode.

Tap “Scan”, select the right Phonak hearing aid when it appears, and hit “Pair”. You’ll see it listed as connected for calls and audio.

Next, open the MyPhonak app. Follow the on-screen instructions; either opening/closing battery doors or placing on the charger. Select each hearing aid as it appears. Confirm pairing for both sides.

You’ll know pairing is complete when you see three entries under Bluetooth: one for calls/audio and two “LE_…” listings for right and left. That means everything is connected and working.
