How to Change Starkey Receiver in Canal RIC Wax Guards – Soundwave Hearing Care
For this video, we’re going to show you how to change your wax guard on your Starkey receiver in the canal or RIC hearing aid. So what you will need is your hearing aid and your wax guards.
To do this you’re going to need to remove this little silicone umbrella or dome by grabbing the side and pulling it off.
What we’ve done is we’ve now exposed a little white filter; that there is to prevent earwax from getting into the receiver. This should be your first line of defense anytime you feel like your hearing aid is not working or it is weak. If a little bit of wax gets into this the wax guard it will block the sound from coming out.
So to replace this filter you’re going to take one of these replacement wax guards. There’s a bunch of sticks.
You will remove one stick and as you can see on one end is a sharper point and on the other is a new filter.
To remove the old wax guard you’re going to use the sharper end and just gently push in and pull out.
As you can see we have removed the wax guard flip the stick over and push directly back in.
And we have replaced it, you’ll then need to line up the little silicone dome or umbrella, push it on and then give it a little bit of a tug, and it is staying on.
